Hope you are enjoying Anzac Day

I must confess I didn't get up for the Dawn parade.. We went for the first time ever last year and whilst I'm glad for the experience, its not something on my annual calendar! But I do think about what we are commemorating a lot, I think a lot about the innocents people around the world who don't have remembrance days - the estimated 10's of millions who died as a result of famine and other atrocities in communist china mid last century, the 10's of millions who died during partition in India - a direct result of the way British Empire handled their exit, the genocides in Africa and Eastern Europe, the number of people who have been killed in countries with border disputes - Palestine/Israel, Kashmir, the number of people who are dying in different wars - drug wars around the world, the wars the are launched in the name of peace/new order - Iraq, people who die daily because someone wants to force their will onto another. I'm not even politically active in any way and yet I know all these things have and are happening, I dread to think of all the other unreported atrocities which humans are capable of.
Maybe if the world spent more time knitting we might not have time for this, unless of course their was a wool shortage and we started stealing the next tribes yaks....

Obviously I haven't been knitting enough this week either! Too much time for thinking...

I've bitten the frog bullet and have re-done the sleeves on the jacket and am now quite happy with it, photo will follow once my phone has recharged... Also have finally stitched some pleats into my turquoise sweater so it now fits snug as a turquoise sweater should. We had an autumnal cold evening last night and it was a smug little me all toasty in the turquoise sweater...

The body of the boxy jacket for Dulaan is done, sleeve's and bands will be in a contrast colour as the main has run out, I plan to do a hat in the contrast. Now I am planning what next? I'm 80% set on The Cowl from snb1 for the daughter in a white acrylic/wool mix purchased from TradeMe, it's all in garter stitch which should contrast nicely with still having Kiri on the go.

Last Wednesday was our monthly SnB, we had two new members and a regular attendee's Mum, my guest was to have been my neighbour but she was unable to attend due to painful knees (she is in the waiting list for the required operation) My neighbour is a long term knitter and her current project is teaching herself to do woven fairisle - I haven't seen it yet but I imagine it is what is also called jacquard knitting?

On a funny note my asthma wasn't asthma, I found this out after a panicked visit to the local White Cross, I had woken with a tingling left arm which wouldn't go away after an hour or two combined with the short breath, well it turned out it wasn't my heart either (whew) but it was muscular/skeletal - somehow (I blame the gym) the area around the lungs was contracting causing the tightness of chest feeling. I was also very relieved to find the tingling wasn't carpal tunnel... There is no way I'd blame knitting if it was... Also as this was on Wednesday my main concern whilst waiting for the doctor is how would I let the knitting group know I wasn't coming?....

Time to get on with the rest of the day! Enjoy!
